Catch your own dinner

Have you ever dreamt of heading out to sea and fishing for your own dinner? Or are you perhaps already an avid fisherman who casts his or her line at any given opportunity? It makes no difference, because this popular sea angling tour is fun for everybody, beginners and seasoned fishermen alike.

Once you are out there on the open seas of Faxaflói Bay, breathing in the fresh Arctic air and have caught your first fish of the day, we are absolutely certain that this is an experience you will not soon forget. We have a longstanding experience of fishing in the Bay and sail out towhere the fish are plentiful. We supply all the gear needed and teach you all the best tricks  to catch a fish. If you should need a jacket, we also have rain jackets to keep you dry. Our tours are always fruitful and we commonly catch all the main signature fish-types found inIcelandic fishing grounds including; wolf fish, cod, haddock, mackerel and pollack.

The golden rule applies here, whatever you catch, you keep. However, if you prefer not to have a load  of cod in your hotel room then you can donate it to the ladies in our Café Bauja and they happily give you a cup of coffee in exchange.

At the end of the tour you can barbecue your catch on board, completely fresh and fuss-free or take it to MAR restaurant to enjoy a fully cooked meal.

All our sea angling tours begin from our ticket office by the Ægisgarður pier in the Old Harbour in downtown Reykjavik. You can purchase tickets or exchange your voucher if you have booked a prepaid trip. Your guide will meet you on board our sea angling boat, Faxi, which is docked at the floating pier in front of the Whale Watching Centre.

Tour Highlights

Faxaflói Bay

Faxaflói is a bay in southwest Iceland, between the peninsulas of Snæfellsnes and Reykjanes. Reykjavík is situated on its southern shore. Faxaflói has been a source of nourishment of the people living on its shores where fishermen went out in small boats to fish for dinner.

Harpa Concert Hall

Harpa is a concert hall and conference centre in Reykjavík, Iceland. Harpa was designed by the Danish firm Henning Larsen Architects in co-operation with Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson. Look out for events in Harpa while in Iceland.

"Reykjavik Sightseeing"

We took the 8 hour bus trip to see as much as we could in a short period of time. The bus was modern and comfortable. The tour guide was informative and we saw some very different landscapes. Parts of Iceland are unique and there are opportunities for awesome pictures. A favourite was watching the Geyser erupt every 8-10 minutes. Very interesting.

"South coast classic"

Just got back from the tour! We went on a large bus that was in pristine condition and always at a comfortable temperature. Though large, the tour felt more intimate than other large bus tours we had been on. The group may have been smaller and both the guide and driver reached out and connected with everyone on the tour. Both answered questions and were very happy to chat about Iceland and Icelandic culture. The audio guides were a nice addition

"Wonderful waterfall tour"

We did the southern Iceland tour that included the glacier hike and visiting three waterfalls. The bus was smaller than other companies, but had free wifi and individual tablets with information about various sights along the way. Our guide was excellent and went with us through a stream into the hidden waterfall area. He also took many pictures of us. I would highly recommend this company and would book them again.
