On this tour we will have a 3 course dinner, at the gorgeous Sky bar, with overview over Iceland's capital. Go on a theatrical comedy roller coaster ride through the Icelandic Viking Sagas before you depart for a Northern lights hunt.
The evening takes off with a wonderful 3 course pre show menu at SKÝ restaurant. Choose between two menus either with the Icelandic lamb, as main character and beef carpaccio and tasty chocolate cake as sidekicks or Icelandic salmon as main with shrimp cocktail and panna cotta for dessert and starter.
After wonderful dinner, get ready to laugh and learn about the Icelandic sagas across the street in Harpa Concert hall.
The Icelandic Sagas are the 40 true stories of the first settlers of Iceland - Well, Icelanders say they’re true. Everyone else says: Get out of here! But everyone agrees they’re fantastic. Tall (or not) tales of viking raids and blood-feuds, worthy men and feisty women from a thousand years ago.
Passed down the generations, preserved on calf-skin manuscripts from the 12th century the Sagas detail viking raids abroad and blood-feuds at home and are the uncontested crown jewels of Icelandic culture. Amazing stories of ordinary vikings, facing ordinary viking problems - like how to avoid getting your farm burnt down because of stolen cheese, how to get your wife to stop killing your neighbour’s slaves, what to do when someone calls you a horse-ass-eater and how to sue your brother in-law for not living up to your sister’s expectations.
Now you can get to know all these wonderful sagas in a highly entertaining and enlightening theatre show performed in english at the iconic Harpa concert hall.
So hoist your axe high and step into the world Hallgerda Long-Pants, Gunnlaug Serpent Tongue, Killer-Glum, Harald with the great hair-do, Mjoll the-biggest-of-all-women-who-were-not-giants and Leif the Lucky who found America… and lost it again
Never heard of them? Don’t worry, you’ll get to meet them all in Icelandic Sagas - The Greatest Hits!
As soon as the show is over in Harpa we embark on a mission to see the Northern Lights, which are undoubtedly one of the most beautiful celestial displays found in nature. But up there, there are many other cosmic wonders waiting to be discovered. All you need to do is gaze skywards into the Arctic night canopy to explore the magic of countless stars and the moon itself.
The tour not only sets out to find the legendary Northern Lights, we also use the opportunity to pinpoint some of the stars & constellations in the sky.
