Bezoek de ijslandse zuidkust en wandel op een gletsjer alvorens de ongelofelijk mooie watervallen van Skógar en de Seljalandsfoss te bezoeken op één van de meest actieve dagtochten vanuit Reykjavik. De eerste stop is de ruige gletsjer Sólheimajökull. Sólheimajökull is een gletsjer-tong die zich langzaam beweegt vanuit de ijskap van de Mýrdalsjökull waar de geweldige vulkaan Katla te ruste ligt. Je loopt op stijgijzers op de gletsjer en onderzoekt de geweldige barsten en spleten in het ijs, vakkundig geleid door een bevoegde gletsjer-gids.
De volgende bestemming is de indrukwekkende waterval Skógafoss. Als je dicht bij staat, kun je de waterdruppels op je gezicht voelen en als je wilt, kun je de heuvel (in totaal 527 treden) op klimmen voor een bovenaanzicht van de waterval. Hier kun je zien hoe het water van bovenaf richting Atlantische Oceaan stroomt. Daarna bezoeken we de waterval Seljalandsfoss, één van IJslands beroemdste attracties voor een geheel nieuwe ervaring. Hier kunnen we achter de waterval langs lopen en door een muur van water kijken.
Onderweg naar deze natuurlijke wonderen rijden we door vruchtbare landbouwgebieden en langs kleine dorpen. De streek is bekend van de verhalen over de vikingen en wordt in het noorden door de vulkaan Hekla en in het oosten door de beruchte Eyjafjallajökull ‘bewaakt’. Op heldere dagen is het mogelijk om de Westman Eilandente zien waar de beruchte vulkaan ligt die in de jaren 70 grote problemen op IJsland veroorzaakte.

Meenemen: Kleding naar weersomstandigheden. Het is altijd verstandig op IJsland om warme, waterafstotende kleding aan te trekken. De weersomstandigheden kunnen snel veranderen, dus houd daar rekening mee. Neem een jas en broek van waterafstotend materiaal mee, evenals een muts en handschoenen. Het wordt aanbevolen om goede terrein-schoenen aan te hebben.

The Solheim Glacier is a magnificent and humbling site to behold, it is a glacial tongue extension of the Myrdalsjökull glacier. When we arrive there, you will be outfitted by the Icelandic Mountain Guides with all the necessary equipment for hiking and exploring the cracks and crevasses of the glacier.
Skógafoss Waterfall
The powerful Skógafoss waterfall where a short walk up a flight of stairs will reveal one of Iceland´s most scenic views, glaciers, volcanoes and black sand beaches.
Along the return trip to Reykjavik, we will stop at the powerful 65 meter tall Skógafoss Waterfall where a short walk up a flight of steps will reveal one of Iceland´s most scenic views of glaciers, volcanoes and black sandy beaches. With viewpoints both above and directly next to the waterfall, photographers will have plenty of chances to capture that unique shot.
Seljalandsfoss
Seljalandsfoss waterfall, famous for the hidden pathway behind and around it.
The Seljalandsfoss waterfall is for many guests the highlight of this trip, as you can walk along this waterfall offering a completely unique perspectives! From here we will spend about 1.5 hours in the coach returning to Reykjavik.
Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach
This one of the most famous and most visited sites in all of Iceland. Marvel at the unique volcanic black sand beach of Reyisfjara with rising basalt columns, a large basalt stone cave which has been battered by heavy oceanic waves.
There is a cafe located at Reynisfjara where you can buy some snack or use the restrooms if needed.
