De ‘golden circle’ excursie begint in de ochtend met daarna een pauze van 3-6 uren voordat de excursie verder gaat met de jacht op het noorderlicht. Deze pauze is de ideale gelegenheid om uit eten te gaan of deel te nemen aan onze Reykjavik excursie ‘cheers to Reykjavik’. Tijdens de ‘golden circle’ excursie bezoeken we IJslands drie iconische, natuurlijke schatten: het nationale park Þingvellir, waar de noord-amerikaanse en eurazische platen uit elkaar worden getrokken; de spuitende geiser die heet water en stoom de lucht in spuit en de spectaculaire waterval Gullfoss waar een gletsjer-rivier 32 meter naar beneden een kloof in dondert. Wanneer de nacht aanbreekt, begint de jacht op de magische en onvoorstelbaar mooie Aurora Borealis. Natuurlijk hangt het van de weersomstandigheden en de zichtbaarheid af of de zoektocht naar het noorderlicht door gaat. En vergeet niet dat de Aurora Borealis alleen in de wintermaanden zichtbaar is.

Meenemen: Kleding naar weersomstandigheden. Het is altijd verstandig op IJsland om warme, waterafstotende kleding aan te trekken. De weersomstandigheden kunnen snel veranderen, dus houd daar rekening mee. Neem een jas en broek van waterafstotend materiaal mee, evenals een muts en handschoenen. Het wordt aanbevolen om goede terrein-schoenen aan te hebben.
Duur: In totaal ongeveer 10 uren met een minimum stop van 30 minuten bij de Geysir en de warme bronnen, de waterval Gullfoss en het nationale park Þingvellir. Hierna een ongeveer 3 uur durende zoektocht naar het noorderlicht.
