Suivez la cóte Nord-Atlantique à partir de Reykjavik et découvrez cette étonnante région volcanique couverte de glaciers. Marchez derrière les eaux grondantes de la cascade Seljalandsfoss, prenez des vues incroyables au sommet des chutes de Skógar, allez sur la plage de sable noir de Reynisfjara connue mondialement et visitez le charmant village côtier de Vík.

Le circuit commence par une traversée en car de champs de lave, à proximité de la montagne Hengill, volcaniquement active.Vous verrez par temps clair le volcan Hekla ainsi que le volcan Eyjafjallajökullau loin. Recouvert d‘un glacier, il s‘élève majestueusement au dessus des reliefs qui longent la côte. A quelques kilomètres à peine, les îles volcaniques Westman sont aisément visibles. Elles forment un archipel de  15 îles dont une seulement est habitée.

Notre premier arrêt est à la cascade Seljalandsfosshaute de 60 mètres. Elle est connue pour le sentier qui permet de la contourner par derrière. Nous nous arrêtons ensuite aux puissantes chutes de Skogafoss où une courte marche et l‘ascension d‘un escalier révèlent une des vues les plus panoramiques du pays, compremnant des glaciers, des volcans et des plages de sables noirs.

Le glacier Sólheimajökull fait le bonheur de tout photographe. Nous nous y arrêterons sur la route de la plage de sable noir  de Reynisfjara, autre site grandiose. Les vagues puissanrtes de l‘Atlantique qui s‘écrasent sur les sables noirs, les îlots de basalte déchiquetés sortant de l‘océan et la grotte géante d‘orgues basaltiques sont des spectacles qui vous laisseront pantois.

Notre dernier arrêt sera à Vik.Vik est situé à l‘extrème sud de l‘Islande sur la route circulaire. C‘est la plus grosse agglomération sur 70km en dépit de sa taille modeste (291 habitants).

Visiter les trésors de la côte sud doit figurer sur la liste des 5 sites incontournables.

Amenez avec vous: des vêtements adaptés au temps. Il est prudent en islande, de porter des habits chauds et imperméables. Les changements de temps sont brusques, et il faut s‘attendre à l‘inattendu. Amenez une veste et des pentalons imperméables, un couvre-chef et des gants. De solides chaussures de plein air sont recommandées.
Auto-guide dans le bus: amenez vos écouteurs. Ils sont sinon disponibles à bord du car pour la somme de 1000 couronnes.
Durée: 10 à 11 heures, comprenant un arrêt minimum à la cascade de Seljalandsfoss, aux chutes de Skógarfoss, au glacier de Sólheimajökull et à la plage de sable noir de Reynisfjara.
Distance totale du circuit : 350km.

Along the return trip to Reykjavik, we will stop at the powerful 65 meter tall Skógafoss Waterfall where a short walk up a flight of steps will reveal one of Iceland´s most scenic views of glaciers, volcanoes and black sandy beaches. With viewpoints both above and directly next to the waterfall, photographers will have plenty of chances to capture that unique shot.

Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach

Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach, another picturesque spot. There the waves crash on the black sands, the jagged basalt sea stacks and the huge basalt column cave are sight not soon forgotten.

This one of the most famous and most visited sites in all of Iceland. Marvel at the unique volcanic black sand beach of Reyisfjara with rising basalt columns, a large basalt stone cave which has been battered by heavy oceanic waves.

There is a cafe located at Reynisfjara where you can buy some snack or use the restrooms if needed.

Vík í Mýrdal

This is Iceland's southern most town with beautiful houses under the church upon a hill. There is a great view of the three trolls out in the ocean along with a second black sand beach.

The quaint town of Vík is Iceland's southernmost town with a traditional Icelandic church overlooking the ocean and the three trolls of the black sand beach. At this stop you will have a chance to grab some lunch & use the restroom, explore the town, spend time at the beach, or do some souvenir shopping at Icewear's outlet store. This is the farthest point along the south coast tour, from here we will head back in the direction of Reykjavik.

Sólheimajökull Glacier

Sólheimajökull Glacier is the photographers delight.

The Solheim Glacier is a magnificent and humbling site to behold. As you walk from the parking lot up the gravel path leading to the face of this glacial tongue extending from Myrdalsjökull, you will witness the glacial bed upon which the Solheimajökull sat not more than 50 years ago. Here you can also see beautiful icebergs revealing deep blue colors that have broken away from the glacier and floated down the lagoon.

Seljalandsfoss waterfall, famous for the hidden pathway behind and around it.

The Seljalandsfoss waterfall is for many guests the highlight of this trip, as you can walk along and behind this waterfall offering a completely unique perspective; just be sure to bring a rain jacket! From here we will spend about 1.5hrs in the coach returning to Reykjavik.
