Golden Circle Classic… is the number 1 classic day-tour in Iceland! See the erupting geyser & hot springs, experience the magnificent Gullfoss Waterfall and follow in the footsteps of Vikings as you walk down the lava canyon where the American and Eurasian continents have dramatically pulled apart in Þingvellir National Park.

Tour Highlights

Kerið

Vulcanologists used to class Kerið as an explosion crater. However after deeper research it is now thought to be a large scoria crater. Its red hued caldera is 55 meters deep and 170 meters wide. Kerið was formed around 3,000 years ago.

Þingvellir

Þingvellir is a site of historical, cultural, and geological importance and is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Iceland. It is a National Park since 1930 and a UNESCO world heritage site, hosting the old Þingvellir parliament. It lies in a rift valley that marks the crest of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge.

Geysir

Geysir, southwestern Iceland is the first geyser described in a printer source and the first known among Europeans. Geysir is in Haukadalur valley, also home to Strokkur geyser. Eruptions at Geysir can be up to 70 metres. Strokkur now erupts every 8-10 minutes from 15-20 metres up to 40 metres high.

Gullfoss

Gullfoss is a waterfal that flows from Hvítá glacial river. It plummets down 32 meters into a canyon measuring up to a 70 meters deep. The waterfall's existence is the result of a hard fought legal battle in 1907 by the first Icelandic environmentalist, Sigríður Tómasóttir.

City of Reykjavík

Reykjavík is the capital and largest city of Iceland. It has a latitude of 64°08' N, making it the world's northernmost capital. With a population of around 120,000, it is the heart of Iceland's cultural, economic and governmental activity. It is among the cleanest, greenest, and safest cities in the world.

Þingvallavatn

Þingvallavatn is the largest natural lake in Iceland, lies perched on the rift valley separating the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates. Most of it is in Þingvellir. The Silfra fissure pumps glacial water, filtered through the surrounding lava , into the lake, where the mineral rich fluid fertilises a variety of vegetation.

"Comfort is King!"

Our south coast tour was lovely! The black sand beaches felt almost other worldly. Waterfalls are stunning. The south coast tour is a must!...even though it is a very long day. However, booking with Reykjavik Sightseeing is a really great option. Of the four companies we had tours with, they were by far the best.

"Golden Circle Tour with a Toddler"

Visiting the Golden Circle with Reykjavik Sightseeing was a great experience. They had a car seat for our 18 month old that allowed him to easily see out the window during the ride between stops. The buses are very nice, and they provide a tablet with tour facts.
