Visit the Golden Circle and Cruise the River that creates the majestic Gullfoss Waterfall

The Golden Circle is our bestselling day tour! See the world famous erupting geyser & hot springs, experience the magnificent Gullfoss Waterfall and follow in the footsteps of the Vikings, as you walk down the lava canyon where the American and Eurasian continents are literally pulling apart in Þingvellir.

Step on board our all new bus fleet, equipped with WiFi connected computer tablets in each seat. On the tablets you can use our GPS Sensitive In Bus Audio Guide, available with a choice of several languages. So if you wish to know interesting facts about Iceland and the places you will visit on the tour, in a language you are comfortable, that is very possible! Aboard will also be a host, that will happily answer any questions you might have about our peculiar country. In each seat you will also find a USB Charger.

The tour starts with a stop in Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site listing and the birthplace of the oldest existing parliament in the world. This is also where the gigantic tectonic plates of America and Eurasia have pulled apart and the resulting rift valley is right there before your eyes on the shores of Iceland’s biggest lake.

The next stop is at Geysir Hot Springs, the home of the one-and-only original geyser and Iceland’s most iconic natural attraction. Here the ground trembles and steaming hot water spouts spectacularly skywards from the famous Strokkur Geyser every few minutes.

Now for a leisurely walk down to Gullfoss Waterfall, which is an awesome sight to behold. Here a powerful glacial river cascades down 32 meters on two levels and into a narrow canyon with a thunderous roar.

To top it all off – we will cruise Hvítá, the river below the powerful Gullfoss in a white water jet boat! You get to enjoy the beautiful river from a completely different perspective. The 40 minute ride guarantees an adrenaline rush for all ages! Speed through a narrow basalt canyon and be exhilarated by 360 spins on the milky white river, cruise the dramatic canyon and see the splash of white water rapids. This is indeed the perfect end to a perfect day of sightseeing – an adrenaline rush set in a beautiful location!

Tour Highlights

Gullfoss

Gullfoss is a waterfal that flows from Hvítá glacial river. It plummets down 32 meters into a canyon measuring up to a 70 meters deep. The waterfall's existence is the result of a hard fought legal battle in 1907 by the first Icelandic environmentalist, Sigríður Tómasóttir.

Geysir

Geysir, southwestern Iceland is the first geyser described in a printer source and the first known among Europeans. Geysir is in Haukadalur valley, also home to Strokkur geyser. Eruptions at Geysir can be up to 70 metres. Strokkur now erupts every 8-10 minutes from 15-20 metres up to 40 metres high.

Þingvellir

Þingvellir is a site of historical, cultural, and geological importance and is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Iceland. It is a National Park since 1930 and a UNESCO world heritage site, hosting the old Þingvellir parliament. It lies in a rift valley that marks the crest of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge.

"Comfort is King!"

Our south coast tour was lovely! The black sand beaches felt almost other worldly. Waterfalls are stunning. The south coast tour is a must!...even though it is a very long day. However, booking with Reykjavik Sightseeing is a really great option. Of the four companies we had tours with, they were by far the best.

"Golden Circle Tour with a Toddler"

Visiting the Golden Circle with Reykjavik Sightseeing was a great experience. They had a car seat for our 18 month old that allowed him to easily see out the window during the ride between stops. The buses are very nice, and they provide a tablet with tour facts.
